Putting
The traditional approach
The traditional approach to better putting is similar to that of learning the swing, as the golfer picks up tips from magazine articles, books and perhaps lessons with the local professional. However useful these things may be, unless the mind is trained to fully connect to and work in unison with the body, it is all too likely to interfere with the movement of the putting stroke - via the incessant ‘monkey mind’ of doubt, hesitancy, hastiness and so on - leaving you out of rhythm with yourself.
The chi-power GOLF approach
"Stillness is the master of motion"
Foundational training in the art of T’ai Chi – upon which chi-power GOLF is based – teaches that when the mind and body are working in harmony with each other, any physical movement made will be more natural and spontaneous. Moreover, the mind – rather than interfering – can actually set the intention for the movement, to which the body then responds.
This level of awareness, and path to continual improvement, is only available when you can unite your mind and body – and this can best be achieved through another foundational teaching of T’ai Chi, which advocates the use of stillness as the way to master the art of movement.
In putting more than any other aspect of the game, the more relaxed and rooted you feel when standing still over the shot, the greater your chance of success when you actually strike the ball. Also, the more relaxed and rooted you feel the more deeply you will start to breathe, leaving your mind peaceful and free of self-interference.
With chi-power GOLF you will learn ancient standing meditation drills to master stillness, fully relax your body and sink your energy into the ground, giving you a firm root from which to putt. You will also find that your mental game develops in unison with your putting stroke, as you learn how to breathe and win and take your shots with a greater sense of freedom and confidence in your abilities.
Benefits to be gained include:
- Enhanced mind~body connection
- Awareness and the ability to improve
- Rooting, relaxation and balance
- The reduction of mental interference
- Increased confidence to take the shot
